Obituary

Dr. Keith A. Hall, 84, of Okemos, Michigan, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.

Born on August 4, 1937, in Logansport, IN, Keith is the son to the late Ralph E. and Mabel (Ping) Hall.  On May 28, 1961, at the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church in Logansport, Keith married Sally L. Walters who survives.

Keith was retired and Professor Emeritus from The Ohio State University, where he was a pioneer in the field of applications of computers in education.

A lifelong educator and mentor, after graduation from Logansport HS in 1955, Dr. Hall earned degrees at Indiana State University (BS) and Indiana University (MS, EdD) and began his career at The Pennsylvania State University.  While at Penn State, he led the Computer Assisted Instruction laboratory.  In addition, he earned his full Professorship, and pioneered the concept of delivering computer-based education to teachers throughout rural Pennsylvania and surrounding states with the use of a mobile instruction laboratory housed in a custom built semitrailer.  From Penn State, he moved to The Ohio State University, where he was actively involved in educational research, graduate level instruction and was academic advisor and mentor to numerous post graduate students working toward masters and doctoral degrees.

Throughout their married life, Keith and Sally enjoyed travel, especially international travel which took them to places such as Holland, Russia, Poland, India, and several times to the Holy Land in Israel, Jordan, and Egypt for in-depth study of their Christian heritage.

After retiring from Ohio State as Professor Emeritus, Keith and Sally built a home and enjoyed time with family and friends on Lake Manitou in Rochester, IN.  As snowbirds, they split their time between Indiana and Sun City Center, FL, where they were actively involved in their communities and churches.

Surviving along with his wife Sally, are two sons, Kenric A. (Mary) Hall of Okemos, MI, Kevin A. (Robin) Hall of Plain City, OH; brother, Kent R. Hall of Logansport, IN; sister, Carolyn S. (Paul) Stanton of Peru, IN; four grandchildren, Megan E. (Robert) Hill of Vero Beach, FL; Erin L. (Stephen) Brown of Plain City, OH; Matthew A. Hall of Upper Arlington, OH; Emma M. Hall of Ann Arbor, MI; seven great grandchildren, Logan Kamerer, Avery Kamerer, Brynn Kamerer, Emerson Hill, Violet Brown, Scarlet Brown, Hazel Brown; several nieces and nephews.
